Named after Westana Mardove, a legendary Dwarf warrior of old. It is said that she built the very first structure on the high peaks of this mountain range after single handedly slaying the entire Alaghi settlement that once stood here. While some doubt the heroic fable-esque nature of the origin story, one must not question the heritage of The Council or the proud history of the city in the proximity of the wrong person. Far and few between ever return once they are forcibly taken to the Black Chamber, which lies deep in the heart of the city.
But those are just rumors, of course. Most citizens of Mardove’s Peak live just as they would in any other bustling city – albeit moderately more segregated than usual. The dwarves like other dwarves, the humans other humans – that sort of thing. The true melting pots of the city are the market and temple districts. If there two things in this world that bring together those of all races and backgrounds, it’s money and faith – sometimes both.
